My medium.com manifesto

A manifesto is a published declaration of the intentions, motives, or views of the issuer,

So, what is my manifesto for medium.com?

Let’s speak to intent first:

  1. Exercise my cognitive integration and creativity. “You don’t really understand it until you can explain it (and have it understood by others).
  2. Re-friend considered failure — the price of change is effort (energy) and failure. Without considered failure we live the lives of quiet desparation.
  3. Service — I’ll be documenting my models, practices and speculations. If even just one person finds utility in one post then I’ve succeeded in this.

My motivation isn’t to just resist the siren’s call of today’s attention thieves (marketing and advertising masquerading as social media), but to define and maintain my own purpose, “stay on target” for the star wars (OT) fans. What is that purpose or target?

My purpose, or why, on medium.com is:

“I believe that people are full of limitless potential and are better together. I deliver the models and digital tools to help people and organizations realize this potential, so that together we can make the world a better place.”

I think Ed Sheeran’s creativity quote illustrates my purpose and intent:

“When you stick on an old tap, it runs out muddy water for about a minute and then it starts flowing clean water — songwriting and doing gigs is like that.” — Ed Sheeran
